Entry-Exit System (EES)

Starting from 10 April 2026, all passengers holding a non-EU passport on extra-Schengen flights will be required to register in the new Entry/Exit System (EES). We therefore kindly advise passengers to arrive at the airport at least 2 hours in advance.

The EES allows to register non-EU nationals travelling for a short stay (maximum of 90 days in any 180-day period), each time they cross an external border of a European country. In this way, the EES will:

  • Modernise and improve border management with secure and reliable electronic records and  by enabling automation at the borders.
  • Improve the experience for travellers and  gradually reduce waiting times thanks to  automated border checks.
  • Prevent irregular immigration, by identifying overstayers and providing reliable data on  entries, exits, and refusals of entry.
  • Strengthen the Schengen area’s internal security by preventing identity and document fraud thanks to the use of biometric data, and by supporting law enforcement authorities to prevent, detect, and investigate terrorism and other serious crimes.

For more information, please see the official EES website here: https://travel-europe.europa.eu/ees.

New online tool to calculate authorised stay

A new online tool connected to the Entry/Exit System (EES) is now available, allowing third-country nationals to check how many days of stay they still have available within the Schengen Area (90 days within a 180-day period).

The tool is available here: https://travel-europe.europa.eu/ees/check-how-long-you-can-stay

It fully replaces the previous “short-stay calculator”.

It can be used by both visa holders and visa-exempt travellers, and calculates the remaining days based on data recorded from 10 April 2026 onwards.
