TORINO GREEN AIRPORT

5,0°C | 41,0°F

Ongoing projects (2021 - 2024)

  • From 2021 - 100% powered by electricity from certified renewable sources.
  • By 2023 - New car park with electric charging for the end customer (8 columns for 16 cars).
  • By 2023 - The relamping interventions of neon, incandescent and discharge lamps continue, replaced with low absorption LED lamps. Areas already completed: aircraft parking, airside and landside traffic, office buildings, General Aviation Terminal, Multi-storey Parking, baggage handling building, hangar and large portions of the Passenger Terminal. Work is underway to complete the relamping of the terminal and of the parking lots and landside roads. Installation of dimming systems that allow an intelligent management of the light emission requirements.
  • By 2023 - Replacement of over 40% of SAGAT SpA's fleet with hybrid or full electric vehicles.
  • By 2024 - Activities are nearing completion to create a widely monitored electricity distribution system. SAGAT will therefore become the airport electricity distributor. By 2021, all significant users of SAGAT and third parties present at the airport will be equipped with meters to comprehensively measure the electricity consumption of the entire airport. Subsequently, an intelligent information system will be created to act on consumption.
  • By 2025 - Purchase of electrical ground support equipment (e.g. electric push-back already in use, replacement of airport ambulifts from diesel to electric - 2 ambulifts, 1 of which in 2022).
  • The airport Smart Grid project is being launched, aimed at the efficient and sustainable self-production of the energy necessary for the functioning of the infrastructure: the project involves the use of a combined and flexible system, powered by different energy sources such as methane, biogas , hydrogen, photovoltaic and solar.
  • The Turin Airport Traffic Development Policy recognizes the value of environmental performance, in terms of fuel consumption, emissions, and aircraft noise. Therefore, the clause concerning the use by airlines of less polluting aircraft is also included in the Aviation contracts.
