Torino Airport participates in national and international initiatives dedicated to the decarbonisation of the airport sector and has defined a pathway towards its Net Zero 2040 target for emissions from airport activities under its direct control.
In 2024, Torino Airport developed an energy model for the airport to support the definition of its Decarbonisation Roadmap.
The model made it possible to bring forward the Net Zero target to 2040, from the previous 2050 target set as part of the commitment signed in 2019.
The Roadmap combines data relating to the main technologies planned to reduce emissions and energy consumption – including photovoltaic systems, fuel cells, electrification of energy use and energy storage systems – with scenarios concerning the evolution of energy markets, the national electricity grid, hydrogen and biomethane.
The Roadmap also identifies an intermediate milestone for 2030, consistent with the European emissions reduction pathway set out under the Fit for 55 programme.
The infographic shows the timeline of actions planned and implemented as part of Torino Airport’s decarbonisation pathway towards achieving its Net Zero 2040 target.
