Photovoltaic System

Torino Airport operates a photovoltaic system installed on the roofs of several airport buildings, which has subsequently been expanded to increase the production of solar-generated electricity for self-consumption.

The system consists of 4,439 photovoltaic modules covering a total surface area of 8,024 m².

Estimated annual production is approximately 1,968 MWh, corresponding to around 15% of the airport’s annual electricity demand.

The panels are installed on the roofs of the passenger terminal, the BHS – Baggage Handling System building, and a building located in the technical area.

The system’s electricity production allows approximately 505 tonnes of CO₂ emissions to be avoided each year, according to the calculation methodology adopted, a value equivalent to the estimated annual carbon absorption capacity of approximately 16,826 trees.

The installed modules are designed to maintain high performance over time, provide mechanical resistance to weather conditions and were also selected in line with the technical requirements applicable to the airport environment.
